Every milestone in my career reminds me of the people who helped me get here. I have learned many valuable lessons on this journey and hope to help others with the knowledge and experience I have gained.
It was the greatest honor when I was elected by fellow professionals to be the President of the Greater Leigh Valley Association of REALTORS®. I have worked in real estate since 2003 and started working with the association in 2014. It has been important to me throughout my entire real estate career to remember my roots and treat everyone with respect. Becoming President-Elect in 2021 and subsequently President in 2022 was the greatest acknowledgment that I had successfully done what I set out to do in this industry.
Growing up, my family was very loving while still guiding me when I went astray. They helped shape me into the person I am today by giving tough love when it was needed. My parents were very involved in the community, and I have aimed to have a similarly positive impact. It has always been my goal to make a difference, no matter how big or small.
Before I worked in real estate, I served as an active-duty United States Marine. Those were some of the most challenging times of my life. The Marine Corps pushed me to become a better version of myself and learn many valuable lessons. Creating a plan to achieve the mission is a natural process in my everyday life now. Whatever challenges may arise, I have the ability to find a solution and get through it.
When I was fresh out of the Marine Corps, I was fortunate to have a close friend and mentor, Dr. Jonathan A. Tenzer. He taught me the moral standard that should be upheld in business. He would always tell me to be mindful on my way up the ladder and to treat people well because when I slip, the way I have acted will determine how hard I will hit the dirt. That sentiment has stuck with me through all these years in business. Jonathan passed away 20 years ago, but people still talk about him every day. It is a testament to his lasting impact on the world.
My initial experience in real estate was challenging as I learned the ropes and figured out how to best serve my clients. It can be difficult to transition into a career like this without the proper resources and help. Despite those difficult times getting started, I have loved real estate from the very beginning. There really is nothing like helping someone through the biggest investment of their lives. I take my role very seriously as an advocate for my clients and work hard to get the best deal possible for them.
In 2013, my nephew and godson, Michael Bernadyn, joined me as a business partner. It has been a rewarding process watching him form a trusted reputation of his own in this industry. We share the same ethical approach to real estate and, together, are creating a powerful legacy. As I continue to take on new roles, I appreciate having him support the business and help us achieve bigger and better things every year.
It has been quite a journey getting to this point in my career. Through every phase, I try to remember those who helped me get here. As I look to the coming years, I look forward to serving as President of the Greater Leigh Valley Association of REALTORS® in 2023 and expanding my reach in the community. It has been one of my greatest achievements to be recognized as a leader in this industry. I aim to have a positive impact like the mentors, friends and family who have inspired me over the years.
As a licensed REALTOR® since 2003, I have successfully completed many transactions working with a wide array of clients. While no two transactions are alike, the experience and skills I have acquired make me confident I can assist you with any of your real estate needs. With fast problem solving and a myriad of resources, I will help you navigate the buying and selling process.
Whether I am working with a client or another real estate agent, I treat everyone with respect. It is my duty with every transaction to achieve the best terms possible for my clients. Negotiating is my favorite part of the process because I truly enjoy exceeding my client’s expectations. Once the transaction is over, I will continue to serve as your lifelong REALTOR®, providing my professional advice and services for all your future needs.
Sincerely,
Howard Schaeffer |
